Ara Wines launches One Estate in UK

29 September, 2011

New Zealand’s Ara Wines has launched One Estate, a sparkling wine made from 100% Sauvignon Blanc, in the UK.

The Marlborough winery’s chief winemaker, Jeff Clarke – formerly of Montana (Brancott Estate) – was behind the new release.

He said: “I could see that some of the blocks of Sauvignon Blanc would be ideal for sparkling wines.

“The still wines being made from these blocks have tremendous aromatics and an intensity and structure that means we don’t have to blend in other varietals to get the right weight and balance.

“Sparkling Sauvignon Blanc needs to taste like Sauvignon Blanc and with One Estate we are starting with a great Sauvignon Blanc and adding some sparkle to it.”

The brut sparkling wine, which is available from October, is priced at £10.99 and contains 12g/l of residual sugar.
