Barbera d’Asti Lequilibrio Montalbera 2009

Brand owner Enrico Riccardo Morando

RRP: €15, £13m, US$21

Grape 100% Barbera

ABV 14

DOCG Piemonte

The Enrico Riccardo Morando family’s Montalbera wine estate, which was founded at the beginning of the 20th Century, straddles the municipalities of Grana, Castagnole Monferrato and Montemagno in the "old" Duchy of Monferrato.

This elegant, sophisticated wine shows good fruit intensity with a pronounced backbone of acidity. The soft tannins are subtle but pronounced but at the same time, well integrated.

On the palate, there are sour cherries, dark fruit and violets. This is a delightful, understated food wine. A wine to be savoured and one where you wish you had bought another bottle.
