Last night (Tuesday December 3), I attended a tasting of Balblair vintages. We tasted five whiskies, 2003, 1997, 1990, 1983 and 1969, prefaced by a glass of Balblair’s base spirit.
The 100% agave tequila, created by master distiller Jesus Hernandez in collaboration with bartenders Henry Besant and Dre Masso made its US debut in Chicago and Denver. It has now launched in California and Oregon, with Massachusetts, Michigan and Indiana to follow this month, as well as Austin, Texas and Seattle, WA in 2013 (February).
Juli Falkoff, brand director for Olmeca Altos, Pernod Ricard USA, said: “We’ve carefully selected regions of the country that have a great appreciation for super premium tequilas as well as bartenders with a known dedication to their craft.
"After our incredible success launching in Chicago and Denver, these new markets offer an opportunity to reach a new audience who will enjoy this authentic, great tasting tequila. Olmeca Altos is truly a gem and we look forward to our expansion.”
