Patrón tequila takes to the skies

14 August, 2009

Patrón tequila has secured listings on three airlines for onboard duty free sales.

The company recently finalised an agreement with Duty Free World to include Patrón tequila in their duty free catalogue onboard international flights on United Airlines and USAirways.

Patrón has also been approved by Tourvest Duty Free for inclusion in the next retail programme onboard Virgin Atlantic Airways.

These three new travel retail listings represent the first airline partnerships for Patrón.

Joe Arellano, Patrón’s vice president of Travel Retail and Latin America, said: “We’ve been extremely pleased with the success so far of this first airline programme. As a matter of fact, on USAirways, Patrón is currently one of their top-selling spirits in onboard retail sales.”

Patrón is supporting these airline listings with various promotional and advertising executions, including in-flight and online. Patrón also advertises in-airport in several major gateway cities.

Patrón is now available in 112 airports across the globe, and almost 700 duty free outlets.

In addition to these new airline listings, Patrón has recently finalised agreements with Gebr. Heinemann for their German airports, as well as Prague and Istanbul; and with Autogrill for inclusion in their stores in Madrid, Malaga, Barcelona, and Ibiza, as well as Cancun, Mexico.

Patrón has also recently launched a global travel retail “Fruit Cocktail” campaign designed to promote and reinforce the brand’s mixability.
