Lucy Britner and Dale DeGroff hosted the event

Artesian in the Langham hotel on London's Portland Place is the number one bar in the world, according to Drinks International's The World's 50 Best Bars 2012.

Headed up by Alex Kratena, Artesian scooped the award at last night's ceremony (October 10), held at 8 Northumberland in London during London Cocktail Week.

The event, which saw 36 of the world's top 50 bars and 400 bar industry professionals come together, was hosted by Dale DeGroff and Drinks International's Lucy Britner.

Also announced  were the regional winners from the UK, Europe, Asia Pacific, North America, Latin America and the Caribbean and Africa and the Middle East.

The awards night will be supported by our sponsors: Botran rum, Asahi beer, Nikka whisky, Voss water, Caorunn gin and Polignac cognac.

The 2012 poll was conducted by World's 50 Best Bars editor Lucy Britner, along with Camper English in the US. The bar features were written by Tom Sandham and Lucy Britner.
