The WSET announced the winners last Monday (January 23) at its awards and graduation ceremony in London. The WSET Diploma is one of the world's most recognised and sought wine qualifications.
A packed Guildhall was told by trust chief executive, Ian Harris, that Fine Vintage, the Vancouver, Canada-based approved programme provider run by James Cluer, was ‘International Educator of the Year’.
The UK category was won by Majestic Wine Warehouse, the leading specialist wine retailer that also has stores in Calais, Coquelles and Cherbourg in northern France.
The judges, who included Drinks International editor, Christian Davis and Tesco senior product development manager, Laura Jewell MW, also made an individual award to Karen Hardwick of The Wine Academy, based in Harrogate, Yorkshire.
The awards are sponsored by Riedel, the producer of specialist stemware for wine drinkers.
