A statement from Kirin said: “Kirin Holdings Company and Suntory Holdings Limited are currently at an initial stage of business merger discussions. Nothing has been resolved or reached an agreement at this stage.
“Kirin will make immediate announcement once anything which needs to be disclosed will be resolved.”
The two companies have previously collaborated in various operational areas such as distribution and procurement.
